Heading For Home in 2009....

April 4, 2009
We had a celebratory dinner last Sunday at "The Precinct" in Cincinnati....celebrating one of Ryan's doctor's comment to another the "Now that's what a healthy patient looks like!"  Ry looks great and has been working out regularly.  He should be able soon to return to work at the office.  He's bought a new car and he and Ashley are busy preparing for their wedding on October 3 this year....and of course there are a few others working on the wedding, as well.
The dinner on February 27 (see below) was extremely successful...raising thousands of dollars, and enabling lots of old friends (young and old, actually) to gather and enjoy a wonderful evening together.  Chris Spielman's speech was an event in itself, as hearfelt and stirring as could be and then some.

(Brian's letter/email):
Dear friends,
I'm training to participate in the Lavaman Triathlon, as a member of
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. The race is
held in Hawaii on March 29, 2009. All of us associated with Team In
Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin
lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this
event in honor of one of my best friends, Ryan Parker, who is
battling Hodgkin Lymphoma. About four years ago Ryan was diagnosed
with Hodgkin Lymphoma. After surgery and chemotherapy, Ryan was able
to put the disease in remission. Unfortunately, in the last year the
cancer came out of remission. Ryan has undergone a stem cell
transplant and is currently fighting to put the disease in remission
once again. Ryan has been an inspiration to everyone around him. This
is my contribution to the Parker family.

This is the second event I have done with Team in Training. Two years
ago I raced in the San Diego Marathon and raised over $6,000 for the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With the help of Team in Training, we
have organized a special team in honor of Ryan Parker. Our goal is to
raise over $60,000!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In
Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back

Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma
and myeloma. More than 823,000 Americans are battling these blood
cancers. I am hoping that my participation in Team In Training will
help bring them hope and support. On behalf of The Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support. I greatly
appreciate your generosity.
